Driving and minimal 4-to-the-floor primetime slammers with catchy vocals backed by some totally wicked Christopher Rau remix madness.
‘R U Happy’… A simple question. But is there a simple answer? Allow Guti and Tripmastaz to look you dead in the eye and find out once and for all. Their first ever collaboration – conjured in a rare real life, real time, real vibe collabo scenario in Tripmastaz Moscow studio – this fact alone should be a reason for happiness. The music seals the deal furthermore; a bubbling analogue bass, relentless jacking beats, filters set to their juiciest coordinates and that insistent loopy vocal sample, there are some serious strong tones of Chicago in the blend. The sharpness of early Trax, the fatness of early Classic and that rolling vibe that captures the essence of house like no other city. If your happiness status relies on more of a French lift then allow D’Julz to take your hand with his remix. Still just as jacking, but with a little more beef in the bass, more dynamic strip-backs and several new layers of funk-riddled filters, if you’re not happy by the time this kicks in, you need to consider some of your lifestyle choices. With the Pets guys and Guti both fresh from big album excursions and Tripmastaz enjoying a rich vein of form on the likes of Tatouffe, Bass Culture and No 19 already this year, all parties are kicking with vitality on this one. Are you happy? We certainly are…
Shimza, one of South-Africa’s shining talents, makes his return to Cadenza with ‘Eminence’, a burning compound of profound percussions and late-night rapturing synths.
Icelandic producer Adalsteinn Gudmundsson aka Yagya now launches his own new Small Plastic Animals imprint with a brand new album, Old Dreams and Memories.
Hidden Spheres is the alter ego of Manchester’s Tom Harris, who first made his mark on the underground circuit with his release ‘The Bloos’ on Moods & Grooves, before following it up with the much in demand ‘Waiting’ on Lobster Theremin offshoot Distant Hawaii. Here, Tom joins the Scissor & Thread family, the Brooklyn label founded by Francis Harris, and home to music that traverses a number of boundaries. Hidden Spheres fits right in - the five track 1985 EP blends house, broken beat, ambient, jazz and other elements into a heady brew.
Ascetic Limited is excited to present our seventh release returning with our VA series and a new design line from Plastica. Side A begins with Trastiber by Fabrizio Lapiana. Fabrizio's work needs little introduction, known for his ambient backdrops and mesmerizing melodies this track is a perfect fit for our catalogue and any DJ wanting to ensure a moody ambience and great for opening doors into deeper realms. Secondly we have Journey with Castenada by Greenbeam & Leon, the duo from Georgia. The residents of Khidi club in Tbilisi, take us on a heavy set journey with their particular sound that ranges from tripped out to industrial bangers. A Journey with Castaneda is an ode to mind exploration and the psychedelic realms we can find within ourselves. On the B side Aleja Sanchez, known for her pounding yet well thought out tracks, provides her track Sanctuary, truly mesmerizing from the Colombian mainstay. This track reflects in totality the sound we strive to provide on Ascetic Limited, pounding yet deep a perfect balance of body mind and soul. To close it out, Cliche Morph s Sinusoid is a broken bass line heavy hitter with amazing sound design that will fit into any set, from the most moody to the deepest of selections. Overall a perfect track to close out our fourth VA selection, reflecting our concept as a label. Includes poster.
